About the Board on Conduct Affairs

Main content start

The Board on Conduct Affairs (BCA), formerly the Board on Judicial Affairs (BJA), plays a key role in shaping how Stanford approaches student conduct. Through policy guidance and oversight of the conduct process, the board works to ensure that the Honor Code and Fundamental Standard are upheld with fairness and transparency.

About the BCA

The Board on Conduct Affairs (BCA) is a 15-person standing committee composed of Stanford faculty, staff and students (both graduate and undergraduate) that is charged with overseeing judicial affairs including adopting or modifying bylaws specifying policies and procedures, adopting and/or modifying the Student Conduct Penalty Code, and proposing amendments to the Student Judicial Charter of 1997.

In accordance with the Student Conduct Charter of 2023, the Board on Conduct Affairs (BCA) welcomes input from members of the Stanford community and invites them to propose suggestions about modifications to the Charter or Bylaws. The BCA encourages open discussion while also recognizing the necessity of confidentiality in its discussion of sensitive topics. Summarized minutes will continue to be published on the web. Requests to present business in front of the BCA should be directed to the BCA co-chairs. Guests will be invited to attend specific parts of BCA meetings as appropriate.

Please note that the practice of the BCA is to review and approve the minutes from each meeting at the subsequent meeting.  Meeting notes are uploaded upon BCA approval.
